Competitiveness of national innovation systems in the global environment

Abstract
The article is devoted to the analysis and comparative assessments of national innovation systems on the global innovation index and the index of global competitiveness, as well as the positions of Ukraine in terms of these indicators, highlighting the main causes and consequences of their formation. The article explores the approaches to determining the essence of the national innovation system and systematizes its key components. The factors influencing the development of the national system are determined, the main ones of which have economic nature. The decomposition of the global innovation index has been carried out and the assessment of Ukraine’s positions on selected indicators of innovative development has been made. The influence of the innovative component on the index of global competitiveness of Ukraine is estimated. The main problems, the solution of which should be directed by the government to âèstrengthen the innovative component of Ukraine’s competitiveness are identified.
