COMPONENTS OF CHINESE TRANSLATORS’ PROFESSIONAL COMPETENCE

Abstract

There have been substantiated conceptual fundamentals of professional competence of Chinese translators within the international programs such as «One Belt – One Road», «New Silk Road» initiated by the Chinese government, educational and cultural projects «Confucius Institute», programs on academic mobility, joint projects in the spheres of aircraft manufacturing, agriculture, etc. Two controversies have been detailed in the article: 1. hipo-hyperonic inconsistency of competency classification; 2. absence of correlation between communicative activity types and communicative competencies. The author pertains the constituting competencies of the integral professional competence of translators majoring in the Chinese language to the determinants of their job description (professiogram) as well as contents of the educational material according to the requirements to the speciality «Philology. Translation». There have been specified the sub-competencies which constitute the designated competence; they are: bi-lingual, extra-lingual, translation-targeted, personality-oriented, strategy-stipulated. The perspective of further research are seen in the study of the quantitative and qualitative contents of the stage-by-stage professional training intended for the future translators-sinologists in accordance with the development vector of the relations in the frame work «Ukraine – China».
