CONDITIONS AND OBJECTIVES OF INTEGRATED COASTAL ZONE MANAGEMENT IN THE GDANSK VOIVODESHIP

Journal Title: Biuletyn Instytutu Morskiego - Year 1996, Vol 23, Issue 2

Abstract

The driving force for the introduction of integrated coastal zone management in many countries is the diversity of requirements put on the use of coastal resources by the coastal population, and the awareness of the need to prepare for a quick sea level rise, resulting from global climate change. Experience shows that introduction of Integrated Coastal Zone Management (ICZM) into given territorial units (countries, states, provinces, municipalities) is normally a long term process, requiring the development of a proper institutional, legal and social framework, and next - continuous updating and correction.
