Journal Title: Альманах міжнародного права - Year 2018, Vol 19, Issue
Abstract
The article explores the conventional mechanism of international protection of human rights in the United Nations system. The author's concept of the convention mechanism of international protection of human rights in the UN system is formulated. The Convention's mechanism for the international protection of human rights in the UN system is seen as the activities of treaty bodies established in international organizations in the United Nations system that apply appropriate extrajudicial (quasi-judicial) procedures to address complaints or allegations of violations of human rights (separate groups of human rights or separate groups of people). The main elements of the convention mechanism for the international protection of human rights in the UN system are: an international agreement, an international body and a procedure for dealing with complaints of human rights violations. Defined by the signs of the Convention's mechanism for the international protection of human rights in the UN system: a) the creation by signing (signing) of the relevant international treaty; b) action in the United Nations system at the universal level; c) application of specific non-judicial procedures for handling complaints of human rights violations; d) the optional nature of the decisions of the committees on cases of human rights violations. The institutional and procedural aspect of the convention mechanism of international protection of human rights in the UN system is explored.
