COOLING SYSTEM OF SUPERCOMPUTERS. PROBLEMS AND PROSPECTS

Abstract

Supercomputers are computers, that have a huge amount of memory and consist of a large number of processors perform parallel calculations. Elements of this infrastructure characterized by the consumption of large amounts of electricity, while a significant amount of heat are allocated. Energy costs of this system requiring a powerful and flexible specialized cooling system, so research in this area is particularly urgent. Modern computer systems use air and water for cooling systems of various designs. Liquid cooling systems are open and closed, or submersible type. In systems of open type intended for cooling elements immersed in a dielectric fluid. For improvement of the submersible type system, proposed to use new generation of chemical liquid called "dry water". "Dry Water" has unique properties - it is not a solvent, does not conduct electric current, non-toxic, non-flammable, safe for the environment - its vapor destroyed by ultraviolet rays for 5 days without the formation of toxic compounds. When immersed in a box of "dry water" electronic devices, they continue to work. When using "dry water" could achieve the following tangible benefits: - High energy efficiency; - Simple design, dense arrangement of equipment; - High reliability; - Fire and environmental safety; - Safety for personnel; - The lack of noise, dust and pollutants; - Simplicity in the management and monitoring; - Durability. Thus, the cooling system using submersible "dry water" without drawbacks of air systems and closed fluid systems, and much more effective for them.
