COOPERATION BETWEEN HUMANS AND ROBOTS – A CONTRIBUTION TO SUSTAINABLE PRODUCTION?
Journal Title: MANAGERIAL CHALLENGES OF THE CONTEMPORARY SOCIETY - Year 2016, Vol 9, Issue 2
Abstract
The various challenges of a sustainable industrial production such as demographic change and resource scarcity induce the increasing need of a resource-efficient, eco-friendly, flexible and adaptive production with human- centered and ergonomic suitable working stations and conditions. The novel production approach of human-robot collaboration promises to contribute to meeting these requirements. Thus, the paper presents the characteristics and possible variants of human-robot collaboration and elaborates its potentials for sustainable production. However, for a successful implementation evidence for the advantageousness of human-robot collaboration has to be proven. Therefore, a concept for evaluating human-robot collaboration in concrete use cases is suggested.
