Corporate governance in companies with capital contribution from local government

Abstract
Issues of corporate governance in companies are very complex and an extensively conditioned research problem. In the article the analyses were concentrated on companies with capital contribution from self-government units, taking into consideration the specificity of their functioning, the scope of performed objectives and connections with self-government authorities. An important element of the conducted research was the diagnosis of the process of members supervisory boards selection, paying special attention to such aspects as: the openness of procedures, real premises and criteria for the choice of candidates, and the complex analysis of the consequences of these processes in the context of changes in the management boards of these companies. An argument which strengthens the rank and the legitimacy of the taken research issues is the fact, that methods applied in the practice of filling positions in supervisory boards are the most important dimension of corporate governance, reflecting real purposes, aims and attitudes of self-government authorities. Problems discussed in the paper are an accurate exemplification of real phenomena and processes having their confirmation in management practice.
