COVID-19 Awareness, Preparedness, And Challenges of Distance Learning Among Teachers in Ormoc City, Philippines

Abstract

During the onslaught of the COVID-19 Pandemic, one of the most affected sectors was Education, both primary and higher education. Due to the sudden shift from face-to-face to modular and online modes, teachers modified their teaching modalities. This study determines the COVID-19 Awareness, Preparedness, and Challenges of the Teachers in Ormoc City Leyte during the Pandemic. A total of 365 teachers in the research locale were given a survey questionnaire and were treated using percentage and frequency distribution to describe the demographic profile of the respondents, awareness of the Covid-19 Pandemic, and preparedness in conducting distance learning. In addition, the mean and standard deviation was used to determine the teachers' level of challenges during the Covid-19 Pandemic. In addition, a correlation was used to determine if there is a relationship between awareness, preparedness, and teachers' challenges in Ormoc City Leyte. The study found that teachers were challenged with distance learning. Furthermore, the teachers were aware of COVID-19. In addition, teachers were ready to conduct distance learning, especially in the printed module. Finally, there were no significant associations between COVID-19 awareness, preparedness, and challenges of distance learning.
