CREDIT RISK AND CREDIT RATING ANALYSIS PRIOR TO FINANCIAL SUPPORT AND INSURANCE OF EXPORT CREDITS APPROVAL

Abstract
Before the decision for financing and/or insurance of an export credit is made, financial institutions must make an analysis i.e. assessment of the credit rating of the company to determine the creditworthiness of the debtor, and make an analysis of the country risk of the debtor afterwards. Country risk assessment has an important role in the process of making financial decisions, for the fact that none of the business entities can have smaller risk than the risk of the country in which it operates. Besides the fact that the financial institutions have developed their own country risk assessment models, as well as techniques for determination of the credit rating of the companies, they usually use credit analysis and reports from independent specialized credit rating agencies.
