A great variety of food items are consumed on a daily basis. Besides, thousands of different additives can be used in these items. It is of utmost importance that the consumed foods are both permissible and healthy. However, some of these food additives are impermissible, harmful and some are indefinable. This paper discusses the situation of certain common food additives in respect to their permissibility, as well as the precautions to be taken to avoid them
