CRITERIA FOR THE LINGUISTIC DESCRIPTION OF THE NAMES OF GREEN PLANTATIONS BASED ON THE TERMINOLOGICAL STANDARDS OF UKRAINE

Abstract
Introduction. The Ukrainian botanical terminology, especially its national part, requires detailed study at all terminological levels, since it is a source of active vocabulary, structural and derivational models of term formation and a fixator of the development of human mentality. Purpose is to define the criteria for linguistic description of the names of green plantations on the basis of the existing national terminological standards, to distinguish obligatory and optional criteria of linguistic descriptions. Results.It is determined that the linguistic description of the names of green plantations in the Ukrainian literary language is based on two basic national standards – DSTU 3966: 2009 "Terminological work. Foundations and rules of development of standards for terms and notions and definition of concepts" and DSTU ISO 860-99 "Terminological work. Harmonization of concepts and terms". DSTU 3966: 2009 defines the established list of criteria for the normalization of the terms of green plantations. Conclusion.Among the standardized criteria, the obligatory criteria for the linguistic description of the names of green plantations (systematic character, the correspondence of the lexical meaning of the term to the notion it stands to, an unambiguous correspondence of the term to the notion, linguistic correctness, the predominance of the native language, and harmoniousness) and optional (rational shortness, word formation ability, the presence of the definition).
