Current status and future prospect of anaerobic<br /> fermentation technology for blue algae<br />

Abstract

This paper reviewed the current status and developing challenges for anaerobic fermentation, one kind of resource utilization technologies of blue algae with great prospects of application. The technologies producing methane from blue algae (Cyanobacteria) by anaerobic fermentation are still in the experimental stage, and should be studied further to achieve a breakthrough of industrialization. Two technologies suitable for dealing with the organic waste-water with high SS, the two-phase anaerobic digestion reactor and upflow solid reactor (USR) were introduced, with proposed the research and development emphasis.
