Abstract
GINA guidelines allow to prescribe SABA in monotherapy for patients with intermittent and mild persistent asthma. This recommendation is contradictory with results of basic science studies which have proved that inflammation in asthma starts from the very beginning. This case study presents an asthmatic patient treated by intermittent administration of controller therapy guided by a symptom-based action plan. This approach has been recently supported by the results of seminal SYGMA 1 and SYGMA 2 clinical trials. ............................... Wytyczne GINA pozwalają na stosowanie SABA w monoterapii astmy epizodycznej i przewlekłej łagodnej. To zalecenie pozostaje w sprzeczności z wynikami badań podstawowych, które dowodzą, że astma od samego początku jest chorobą zapalną. Przedstawiony opis przypadku jest przykładem doraźnego podawania leków kontrolujacych. To nowe podejście postępowania w astmie jest poparte wynikami niedawno opublikowanych badań klinicznych SYGMA 1 i SYGMA 2.
