DECLENSION PECULIARITIES OF THE NUMERALS ТРИ, ЧЕТЫРИ IN THE CHURCH SLAVONIC LANGUAGE OF THE UKRAINIAN EDITING IN THE XVI-XVII CENTURIES

Abstract
The purpose of the research is to characterise case forms of the numerals три, четrри in the Ukrainian editing of the Church Slavonic language in the late 16th and 17th centuries and to compare the corresponding units of the Old Church Slavonic language with the Ukrainian ones. The analysis proved that the system of the studied forms have undergone some changes. The most important one is the loss of gender category by the numerals три, четrри. It has also been revealed that the recorded changes aimed at the convergence of case paradigms of the numerals три, четrри and два. The changes may have been initiated by the forms of the numeral два, however they appeared under the significant influence of the Ukrainian language where they were also present in XVI–XVII centuries. The results can be used in educational practice and for further research of accidence in the Church Slavonic language.
