FUNCTIONS OF SITEONYMS

Abstract
In comparison with other classes of onyms siteonyms are limited in their functions. It is caused primarily by their strictly regulated structure, while their graphical representation cannot have any special formatting or accompaniment, they are registered in Latin letters, etc. Siteonyms have to answer certain requirements: being unique, because two identical identificators cannot exist in the system of domain names, which corresponds to the nominative function, being easy for memorizing, as it increases the possibility of the user to return. It is especially important for the commercial sites, the income of which is proportionate to the amount of visits, which corresponds to the informative-advertising function, being able to form certain psychological reaction, which is desirable for the author / authors. It may be termed as the suggestive function, which is based on the ability of the onym to serve as an effective means of influence on the mind of the addressee.
