Definitions of strategic decision and strategic choice within strategic management of the enterprise

Abstract

Ann otati on. Purpose . The article is dedicated to research of approaches to conceptions of terms of decision, choice, strategic decision, strategic choice, identification of characteristics and parameters inherent to these terms and development of definitions, which would reflect differences between strategic decision and choice. Methodology of research. The objectives of the article implemented by using the following general and specific research methods: analysis, generalization, induction, abstraction, and specification. Fin din gs. The following concepts were investigated: approaches to definition of terminology of decision, choice, strategic decision, and strategic choice in papers of foreign and domestic scientists, main parameters and characteristics of these categories; commonalities and distinctions are introduced. Original definition of concepts of strategic decision and strategic choice is developed; the developed definitions are distinctive from analogies, as the concepts are specified and the areas of their possible application are distinguished. Practical value.The article introduces original definitions of strategic decision and strategic choice, which will allow to improve perception of theoretical concepts of strategic management by practicians and will strengthen the basis of further research in this area. Main academic provisions of the article can be leveraged during development and practical application of strategic management methods.
