Abstract
The author reflects on the dehumanization of modern society and the crisis of humanitarism. He identified the features of modernity that determined the crisis of humanitaristics. At the same time, the author paid attention to the fact that many negative phenomena of life became possible due to the corresponding position of the humanities. It is alleged that humanities should, among others, perform a predictive function and contribute to the development of a program for the development of society. This applies to the sphere of science and management, as well as education, since teaching, which is not aimed at developing a responsible attitude towards one’s own activity, in seeking ways to harmonize the interests of the individual and society, loses its humanistic essence. The attempts to replace the regulating and goal-setting role of education with a system of manipulation of consciousness are considered by the author to be detrimental to the development of society. In the argumentation of his position, the author relies on the works of such modern scientists as U. Beck, E. Domanskaya, M. Nussbaum, and others.
