Density and Surface Tension of Binary Mixtures of Acetonitrile 2-Alkanol at 298.15 K
Journal Title: Journal of Science and today’s world - Year 2013, Vol 2, Issue 4
Abstract
Surface tension and density for (Acetonitrile + Methanol, Ethanol, 2-Propanol, and 2-Butanol) at the temperature 298.15 K and normal atmospheric pressure have been determined as a function of mole fractions. The Redlich-Kister polynomial equation was fitted to each of the experimental surface tension deviation and excess molar volume results. Using the resulting polynomial equations, the surface tension deviations and the excess molar volumes (∆σ, were calculated over the entire composition range. The results obtained are discussed and interpreted in terms of the type and nature of the specific intermolecular interaction between the components.
