DERIVATIVE-MORPHOPHONOLOGICAL SPECIFICITY OF THE DEVERBATIVE FAMILIES OF WORDS: SYNCHRONIC ASPECT

Journal Title: Слов’янський збірник - Year 2015, Vol 0, Issue 19

Abstract

The subject of the research is to identify the derivativemorphophonological specificity of the families of words with an apical verb. The derivativemorphophonological specificity of the word-formation deverbative units: synchronic aspect. The purpose is to find out the morphophonological structure of the families of words with segmented and non-segmented specific and foreign apical verbs in modern Ukrainian language. Methodology. The basic method for analysing the morphophonological structure of the deverbatives is the descriptive one, also component and distributive analyses to differentiate and classify morphophonologically marked deverbatives. Morphemic and derivational analyses, design and linguistic modeling methods are used. The diachronic-synchronical method and the method of quantitative calculations are applied for the analysis of the morphophonological units. Finding. The research results show that in each morphophonological class the first stage of derivation is the most active, which is characterized by the greatest diversity of morphophonological models. At the second and the following stages – the morphophonological activity fades, which is reflected in the qualitative and quantitative characteristics: quantitative reduction of the involved morphophonological models and their typical character. The morphophonological structure of the verbal root morpheme determines morphophonological characteristics (morphophonological class and type) of the word-building paradigms and the family of words which have a different set of morphophonological models. Practical value. The methodology, elaborated classifications, methods of modeling suggested in this article can serve as examples of practical mastery of the material for linguistic studies in the field of word building morphophonology, can be used in the process of writing textbooks in morphophonology, morphemics and word building of the Ukrainian language at a high school, and while creating derivational dictionaries. Results. 1. The formant nature effect on the derivative base morpheme depends on its phonological structure. 2. The morphophonological marker of the families of words depends on their word building potential. 3. The final verbal truncation is a common morphophonological operation for all deverbatives that accompany accentual position change, combined with alternations (usually consonantal).
