Designing Effluent Treatment of Rag-e-Safid1 Desalination Plant Using Reverse Osmosis Process
Journal Title: Journal of Science and today’s world - Year 2015, Vol 4, Issue 12
Abstract
Rag-e-Safid1 Desalination Plant makes 3126 barrels per day (bbl / day) of effluent from oil processing in Rag-e-Safid oil field. This much effluent, due to the high amount of minerals and total dissolved Solids (TDS) is injected to effluent disposal wells through a 6-inch 20 km pipeline. Injection of this effluent into disposal wells has had great damage and incurred high costs to oil company due to mineral deposits and corrosion damage in effluent injection pipelines, well-head and down-well equipment, the need for tower to repair the well, and acidizing operations to remove deposits. In this study, by simulation of effluent treatment through two-stage reverse osmosis process with input discharge of 20.708 M3/h and condensed backflow of 10m3/h using Reverse Osmosis System Design (ROSA) software and TDS at very low doses of 825.31 mg/1 the PH was reduced to 4.67 and other ions in the effluent reduced to the standard level. As a result, due to the low minerals in purified water, it can be used as feed to the desalination plants for processing salt out of oil and injection to oil wells of Rag-e-Safid oil field in order to extract more from these wells and agricultural uses or potable water.
