Determination of baseline titre of widal test among healthy individual in Bhavnagar district, Gujarat

Abstract
Widal test is simple serological investigation for the diagnosis of typhoid fever for that determination of baseline titre among healthy individual in a community required. Present study was supervised to determine the baseline widal titer of widal test among healthy individual in Bhavnagar district , Gujarat. A total of 1000 serum samples were collected from healthy individual with no history of fever and who had not received any vaccination for enteric fever. Tube agglutination test was done with commercially available antigen. Out of all positive samples 99.4% and 98.8% showed a titre which was < 1:80 to the O and H antigen of Salmonella typhi respectively. Baseline titre of 1:80 for O and H antigens of Salmonella typhi were observed in the present study.
