DETERMINATION OF CARRIERS OF MALARIA AMONG INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS OF I. HORBACHEVSKY TERNOPIL STATE MEDICAL UNIVERSITY IN LABORATORY OF MICROBIOLOGICAL AND PARASITOLOGICAL RESEARCHES

Abstract
Malaria is widespread globally disease. The most affected by malaria countries are in Africa, Asia, Central and South America. According to WHO over 100 million cases of malaria are reported annually in the world. Cross-border malaria transmission is an important problem for national malaria control programs. In Ukraine annually there are cases of malaria. In Ternopil State Medical University (TSMU) there are more than 1500 international students from 57 countries. 54.4 % of these countries belong to endemic malaria zones. Annually in Laboratory of Microbiological and Parasitological Researches we do blood tests for above 100 students of first year and around 1000 seniors to determine whether someone of them has malaria. Timely diagnosis of malaria patients is an important measure that provides both protection of human health and the prevention of local malaria cases.
