Determination of steps sensitive in estimate of water surface profile using numerical and integration methods

Journal Title: Journal of Science and today’s world - Year 2013, Vol 2, Issue 5

Abstract

Almost most of gradually varied flow profiles are investigated and rout by using numerical and tracing methods. In flow routing using these methods determination of steps has got lot of important to achieve final solution. In this study, three software models in environment coding Visual Basic were developed in cast of software package. This package includes the direct step model, the standard step model and the direct integration model. All three models were run for an M1 profile and the profile was been manually rout. Effective step amounts in these methods were achieved y =0.02m, x = 25m and y = 0.02m respectively. The results show the performance of the three models with error equal to 1.09, 0.567 and 1.62 percent using effective steps for direct step model, the standard step model and the direct integration model respectively. Based on this investigation, standard step model showed the least error contrasted to other models in comparison with manually calculations.
