Determination of wave parameters in the laboratory conditions with the help of modern measuring equipment

Abstract

The article is devoted to the problem of creating a high-precision instrumentation intended for determining the wave parameters in a hydro wave basin, with large-scale experimental physical simulations. Waves in the basin are formed with the help of a shielded wave-productor, which are affected by new designs of sea-going vessels, with the aim of determining optimal parameters for the hulls of the hull of the new vessel design, and also for studying the effects of waves on the model of protective and bank-protecting hydraulic structures. Until recently, in laboratory studies, according to the definition of wave parameters, tube type 8 ANCH-7 sensors were used, manufactured by the plant No. 713921 of the USSR Ministry of Aviation Industry (MAI), which by now do not meet the required accuracy and purity requirements. The measurement equipment described in the publication is based on capacitive type sensors that convert the linear value of surface water level fluctuations to the capacitor's electrical capacitance. The measuring system makes it possible to obtain high-quality, results of the conducted experimental studies. As a result of the experimental studies, the measurement frequency was brought to a maximum value of 1 mHz and the accuracy of the experimental studies obtained was 0,01 mm, which even exceeds the required value. The prospects for further application of the measuring apparatus described in the article are to obtain more accurate and reliable results in experimental studies related to the investigation of new types of structures of sea-going ships, and also to study the problems of the effect of waves on the construction of protective and coastal hydro technical structures. The main task of protective hydraulic structures is to protect the territory of seaports, as well as elements of urban infrastructure. With the help of the created sensors and measuring equipment, it is planned to carry out investigations of the design of protective hydraulic structures of an incomplete vertical profile, proposing a further method for calculating these structures.
