Developing Skills of Completing Grant Applications as a Component of Training Postgraduate Students Specializing in Ecology

Abstract
Within the context of global environmental issues and the necessity of international cooperation of environmentalists, postgraduate students need to master the skills of developing and realizing projects in the field of sustainability and environment protection, especially those concerning endangered flora and fauna. However, the said projects stipulate funding that may be unavailable to Ukrainian citizens for various reasons. Numerous renowned organizations provide funding for environmental projects, therefore there is a need to prepare postgraduate students to choose grantmakers, complete the application and carry out the research or the activity contemplated by the project. The article presents a learning module aimed at teaching postgraduate students to find, analyze and complete grant applications. The module consists of eight units, each targeting a specific task in terms of content: analyzing the grantor's website; studying the success stories; reviewing requirements and general terms of grant provision to analyze eligibility; reviewing the application form; developing the project goal and tasks; drafting the budget; completing the application form; presenting the project. Each unit is oriented at achieving goals in terms of language and professional development. The content is developed based on the materials published by distinguished international organizations providing financial support to environmental activists in Ukraine.
