Development of Automatic Rice Grain Dryer

Abstract

Rice is one of the essential commercial food crops in the Philippines and considered by many people from different countries as a staple food. Traditional sun drying of rice grain usually experienced problems due to geography and the kind of materials used. In addition, this conventional means when improperly prepared can cause the low quality of rice grain. An Automatic Rice Grain Dyer is a system that will dry rice grain without or with the presence of the sun. The study was conducted for the rice grain farmers of Brgy. Lima Pastrana, Leyte. The system includes hardware that will work with a Flat Turbine. The study utilized a descriptive method using a researcher-made questionnaire that was administered to the 40 farmers as respondents of the survey. It used three different scaling ways as follows; Quality scale, Frequency and Importance scale by Mahoney(2009).
