DEVELOPMENT OF STUDENT SELF-GOVERNMENT IN 2011-2015 ON THE TERRITORY OF THE UKRAINIAN INDEPENDENT STATE

Abstract

The article analyzes normative documents on the organization and activities of student self-government bodies and the practice of functioning of the phenomenon under study in higher educational institutions of Ukraine in the period 2011-2015; determined trends and patterns of student self-government in 2011-2015. Problems of student self-government development in modern conditions were the subject of scientific researches of I. Darmanska, V. Demchuk, Yu. Kraschenko, O. Kulinchenko, N. Liznova, K. Potopa, V. Smerichivska, M. Solovey, R. Sopivnik, O. Tararina, N. Chibisova, L. Sheina. The period of 2010-2015 was characterized by tendencies: organizational and procedural (increasing attention of the Ministry of Education and Science to the activities of student self-government bodies, modeling educational space on a Euro- pean basis), structurally-informative (strengthening of student initiative in the field of student self-governance functioning, which was expressed in lawmaking activity of representatives of public organizations and student self-government, activat- ing the advocacy of their rights and freedoms, counteracting corruption), actuall no-defining (activation of educational work on with student government leaders, enhancing student self weight in management decisions in higher education). Student self-government was developed on the basis of the following laws: the optimal form of student self-government for a higher education institution is that chosen by students in a democratic way, and not determined by leadership; Student self-government is effective under conditions of support of youth initiatives by the leadership of a higher educational estab- lishment; the cooperation of students with the administration of a higher educational establishment ensures participation of students in the management of educational institutions on the basis of partnership, mutual assistance and understanding. An actual problem is the analysis of student self-government development as a way of democratization of the educa- tional process of higher education.
