Journal Title: Health Science and Management - Year 2024, Vol 3, Issue 3
Abstract
Objective Individualized Critical Motor Skills Model (ICSM) is a measurement tool that emphasizes the teaching of motor skills related to the environment for children with mental retardation, and develops and evaluates the individualized critical motor skills model for children with moderate mental retardation in China. Methods Using the method of mixed research, through the asynchronous exploratory design, with qualitative research as the starting point, a tool that can be used for the next stage of quantitative research is generated. In the qualitative research stage, the initial dimension of ICSM evaluation tool for children with moderate mental retardation was determined by literature research and interview. Subsequently, in the quantitative research stage, 572 children with moderate mental retardation were measured by questionnaire survey (other-evaluation test-rating scale method). Results The ICSM evaluation instrument for children with moderate intellectual disability includes 3 dimensions of mobility, striking ability and kicking ability, with a total of 27 items, with an internal consistency alpha coefficient of 0.91; a retest reliability of 0.93; the composite reliability CR value is above 0.88; the structural validity, factor loading is above 0.4; content validity, with an average I-CVI of 0.97 and an S-CVI of 1; and convergent validity, AVE were all above 0.5. Conclusion The ICSM assessment tool for children with moderate intellectual disabilities has acceptable reliability and validity, and can serve as a reliable tool for evaluating individual important motor skills of local children with moderate intellectual disabilities. Research on the evaluation of special needs students' motor skills is expected to draw nourishment from the excellent traditional Chinese culture. It actively explores a special sports education and evaluation model with Chinese characteristics, that is, adapting sports as a carrier to bring the Chinese and popularized exercise benefits to more disabled groups.
