Diabetes mellitus and tuberculosis: the problem of the syntropy of comorbid pathology

Abstract

The association between diabetes mellitus and tuberculosis and their synergistic role has been recognized for centuries. The purpose of the analytical review of available scientific sources was to generalize information on the epidemiology of dia­betes mellitus and tuberculosis; to assess the prognostic effect of diabetes on the incidence of tuberculosis and to predict the main risks for pharmacological correction of two diseases.
