DIDACTIC SUPPORTS FOR SITUATING THE GEOGRAPHIC TRAINING OF BULGARIA

Abstract

From the 2019/2020 school year with the educational reform enters the new curriculum for geography and economy in the X grade of the Bulgarian school. The geography training of Bulgaria in the last obligatory preparation class is aimed at acquiring key competences by mastering the knowledges, skills and relationships related to the territory most closely related to the student's life - native country. The problem of educational reform is examined in terms of its socially-active and functional mechanism. The brief functional analysis examines Bulgaria's geography training in a system and as part of the educational system in its multiple and varied relationships. Its specific characteristic is outlined as a social, open, system that realizes the purposes and the tasks of training geography and economics. In this context, the question of pedagogical competence of teachers is also examines: as a socially-active mechanism of the social function of curricula; as an effect to achieve the expected results for the 10-th grade curriculum. The competency, activity-oriented and interdisciplinary approach came out as the main, implicit introduction of the activities for achieving the results of the new curriculum. The didactic support for the geography training of Bulgaria is situated in the European educational framework and the curriculum has a different structural model, including presentation, expected results from the training to achieving general education preparation at the end of the class, learning content, recommended percentage distribution of the compulsory school hours , specific methods and forms of assessing students' achievements key competency acquisition activities, and the interdisciplinary relationships between the subjects. The conceptual line of the learning content has an algorithmic model: geographical location and borders - natural components and areas - demographic situation and settlements - state polity and government - economy - planning regions. A necessary condition for achieving the purposes and methodical projection for the forms and methods of geography training in the X grade are the work with the geographic map, the analysis of climatograms, hydrograms, ladder and circular diagrams, presentation of geographic information on contour map, elaboration of schemes, tables, posters, essay writing, scientific message, public speaking, case solving, expressing opinions on geographic questions, working with all the elements of the schoolbook, observing in nature and filling in a form for the observation, making a tourist route, analysis of the demographic situation at the native end, use of ICT for creating and presentation of products from the execution of a specific learning task, etc.
