DIGITAL CROSSOVER FOR ENCODING SUBSYSTEMS OF SPEECH SIGNAL

Abstract

Purpose. To study the synthesis of digital crossover implementation structure and type, as well as determination of its operation parameters, which provide efficient multirate speech stream processing. Methodology. Variational numer- ical simulation of amplitude-frequency characteristics of FIR filters. The implementation feasibility of a three channel crossover has been established, based on two filters with twenty-seven and eleven leads. Results. It has been estab- lished that the least amount of computation is needed in the case of a partitioned filter based on the frequency sampling using type IV 12-lead resonator and two separate blocks of multipliers. Originality. The structure, type and parameters of speech signal crossover implementation have been obtained, which improve the efficiency the encoding process. Practical value. Because of the need for the frequency response correction, bit depth expanding, as well high precision rounding of intermediate values, even a high order CIC-filter is not acceptable for implementation of multirate speech signal processing. Frequency sampling based filter with type IV 12-lead resonator can be used in the simplest applica- tions, which do not require high sound quality and reproduction of pieces. The implementation feasibility is established with a method found to use composite band-pass filter for multichannel speech stream encoding.
