Displaying Legal Ideas of I. I. Lukashuk in Vienna Convention on the Law of Treaties

Abstract
Attempts to codify the law of international treaties, the peculiarities of the adoption of the Vienna Convention on the Law of Treaties and the contribution of the well-known domestic international scientist Igor Ivanovych Lukashuk to it are considered in the article. The author highlights the stages of participation I. I. Lukashuk at the United Nations Conference on the Law of Treaties and analyzed each of them in detail. Particular attention was given to the amendments of the Ukrainian scientist to the draft of Vienna Convention. Suggestions of І.І. Lukashuk, which were supported by the participating states of the Vienna Conference, were also noted. For example, an amendment to article 25 (territorial scope of the treaty) of the Vienna Convention on the Law of Treaties that the treaty is binding on each party in respect of its entire territory was approved. The paper describes the diplomacy of I. I. Lukashuk's statements concerning the proposals that seemed absurd after millions of victims of world wars since they contained a kind of protection of state's aggression. For example, it was Japan's amendment to Article 70 of the draft Vienna Convention, which contained changes in the formulation of the ‘aggressor state’ to ‘state’ and others.
