DNA FLOW CYTOMETRY IN THE EVALUATION OF RHEUMATIC PARANEOPLASTIC SYNDROME IN LUNG CANCER PATIENTS

Abstract

The study of the flow cytometric DNA content of tumor cells of 70 lung cancer patients was conducted and included 30 patients with paraneoplastic rheumatic syndrome (PNRS) and 40 – without manifestations of this syndrome. The study revealed that tumors of lung cancer patients with PNRS in 1.39 times more likely have aneuploidy DNA profile unlike tumors of similar lung cancer patients without PNRS. Hyperdiploid variant of aneuploid DNA profile of the tumor occurs in 1.78 times more frequently in patients with PNRS than in similar patients without this syndrome, hypodiploid variant of aneuploid DNA profile – respectively in 2.62 times less often. All these changes are indicative for the more malignant tumors in patients with this group, whichmay also indicate poor prognosis.
