Domestic oilseed market in the season of 2011/12

Abstract
Rapeseed crops in Poland decreased in 2011. The domestic and European market showed a significant prevalence of the demand over the supply of rapeseed, as a result of which its prices grew considerably. In order to supplement the domestic supply, the imports of rapeseed grew sharply, while its exports were considerably lower. Under these circumstances, the domestic rapeseed processing in the season of 2011/2012 dropped only slightly, though it was considerably lower than in the record season of 2009/2010. The results achieved in the foreign trade in oil raw materials and products in the 2011/2012 season worsened. The negative balance of trade in those products increased. Any further growth in rapeseed production, and in the oil industry, will mostly depend on the development in bio-fuels production.
