Journal Title: Acta Neophilologica - Year 2016, Vol 2, Issue 0
Abstract
Andrei Tarkovsky is the one who “invented a new language, true to the nature of film, as it captures life as a reflection, life as a dream,” said Ingmar Bergman. This article discusses the first feature film directed by Tarkovsky – Ivan’s Childhood. This deeply spiritual movie includes the most characteristic features and plots found in Tarkovsky’s works. According to him, film is a way to reach the truth. For this reason, he attempts to find answers to essential questions: the meaning of life and the condition of the human spirit.
