Journal Title: Rocznik Politologiczny - Year 2015, Vol 11, Issue 11

Abstract

Civil war in Syria have become one of the most important events on international stage, during the presidency of Barack Obama. U.S. policy towards Syrian internal conflict is being investigated through the lens of the reaction for Ghouta chemical attack in 2013. The debate over the influence of Obama’s decision is still open. There is a need to put it in the broader political context of the U.S. policy. It is possible to lay dawn a thesis, that one of the elements of Obama’s frame of reference, was American military and diplomatic intervention in Lebanon during the presidency of Ronald Reagan. The purpose of the present article is achieve better understanding of Obama’s decision, by putting these two interventions in comparison. The consequences of both handling both crises will also be presented.
