Education in hutsuls schools by means of bell ringing

Abstract

The article reveals the problem of pupils’ education in hutsuls schools by means of change ringing. The current problems of children teenagers are in need of using different means for their solution. The important place among them is taken by the church bells and ringing, which largely determined the development of Ukrainian culture, including art. Bells are important monuments of material and spiritual culture, musical instruments, works of art molding, written language memo and compulsory affiliation of church temple. Knowledge of various arts is the key to teenager’s comprehensively developed personality, and study of bell-ringing and its components takes the leading role. The student must know bell-ringing culture of the region, peculiarities of the bell music, the signs of displaying the chimings in classical and contemporary music, understand expressive means of bell music, be able to create music in chimes and bells. Generalization of own pedagogical experience and experience of Professor B. Kindratyuk, a professor of Vasyl Stefanyk Ciscarpathian National University, has made it possible to establish an increase in the students’ and pupils’ interest in the study of the bell ringing culture. In particular, the topicality of such activity is determined by the present revival of ancient rites, customs, and traditions of the bell ringing existence in Hutsulshchyna. Including of information about the components of the bell ringing culture of Hutsulshchyna as an important means of pupils’ spiritual and moral education in the content of school education has been proposed. It has been found out that the formation and development of their interest in bell ringing promotes the creation of numerous educational situations and the use of creative tasks at school music lessons. Thus, when forming teenagers’ interest to bell-ringing we use not only interesting campanological material, but various methodical techniques of involving pupils in regional, musicological search work that enriches their moral and spiritual sphere.
