Educational supervision as a method of professional training of social workes

Abstract

Today modern society needs to qualify professional social workers which have a high level of knowledge, skills and professional qualities of personality. Specificity of social work requires the introduction of educational supervision into learning process for social workers. Key characteristics of social work as a professional activity are the priority of the personal-professional development, psychological and social competence, practical orientation and the work at the macro level of society. Supervision is a method of counseling and consultant’s assessment with the aim of removing of the psychological stress and prevention of the specialists’ emotional burnout. Supervision creates real preconditions for realization of individual and creative approach to the professional’s formation. The aim of the educational supervision is the tracking the process of professionalization during the assimilation of professional methods and techniques. Educational supervision is directed of the reflection of internal psychical acts and states by the future specialists, promotes the formation of high level of social workers’ subjectivity, self-realization and self-actualization of the future specialists. Discussion of more experienced colleagues’ ideas allows to overcome frustrative state of the young specialists’ primary adaptation in such complex and multi-functional activity as social work is.
