EFECTOS COLATERALES EN EL TRATAMIENTO DE ORTODONCIA

Abstract
The side effects in orthodontic treatment have become the main concern on the part of the orthodontist, since during the treatment we find different unwanted effects, being essential to have knowledge about them for their respective treatment and / or prevention, thus opt for a viable treatment plan for the patient. The objective of this study was to describe the different side effects that may occur during and after an orthodontic treatment. A bibliographic review of a narrative type was carried out. A search was made of the publications made in PubMed, Scielo and Ebsco in the last 10 years related to the subject, applying the inclusion criteria 28 articles were found. According to the researches reviewed, there are several factors and variables that intervene in the appearance of the different unwanted effects in the orthodontic treatment, where we find the root resorption with greater prevalence and in a lower prevalence the gingival recessions, we also find pain as another side effect and finally to the aesthetic effects manifested through white spots.
