Effect of 6 week aerobic training on Interleukin-6 in postmenopausal hypertensive women

Journal Title: International Research Journal of Applied and Basic Sciences - Year 2013, Vol 5, Issue 7

Abstract

The present study designed to examine the effect a period of acute exercise training in morning and evening on Angiotensin converting enzyme in post-menopausal women with hypertension. This study was Quasi-experimental study by using pretest – posttest model. The subjects were hypertensive menopausal women, aged 45-55 years. We selected 14 women that their hypertensive confirmed by physician. In this study blood samples were collected in two stages, before start training and end of training in sixth week. Subjects were randomly assigned in 2 equal group consist of: control group (n= 7), and training group (n = 7). Posttest, blood sampling was done 48 hours after last session training same the first condition and finally the results of 2 groups compare together. After 6 weeks, interleukin-6 levels significantly decreased in the experimental group but no significant reductions were found in control group. Accordingly, exercise training may counteract several potential stimuli of IL-6 production. Therefore, a low plasma IL-6 concentration at rest as well as in response to exercise appears to characterize the IL-6 response after training adaptation.
