Effect of carbendazim for the control of Colletotrichum sp., Contaminant of the in vitro establishment of coffee callus

Journal Title: Biotecnología Vegetal - Year 2003, Vol 3, Issue 2

Abstract

Collectotrichum genus was identified as frequent contaminant in coffee callus formation from foliar explants fragments of plants cultivated in field. The presence of this genus as contaminant in fragments of coffee leaves used for callus formation involved the initial explants as possible contamination source. It was also evaluated the effect of carbendazim for its control beginning from the determination of its Minimal Inhibitory Concentration in PDA culture medium by the dilution in agar method. The isolated CCIBP Co-1 used for the susceptibility determination wascontrolled at 1.0mg.l-1 carbendizin concentration.
