EFFECT OF EXERCISE ON DIFFERENTIAL LEUCOCYTE COUNT IN HEALTHY MALES. A COMPARATIVE STUDY ON HEMATOLOGICAL PARAMETERS
Journal Title: European Journal of Pharmaceutical and Medical Research - Year 2019, Vol 6, Issue 5
Abstract
Introduction: Exercise on regular basis, is largely done to have maintained body shape together with its effect on other physiological parameters of the body. Exercise increases differential leucocyte count and killing capacity of neutrophils. In addition, it also increases availability of circulating immune complexes in blood. Exercise may also increase natural killer cell count and cytolytic action. Thereby, the aim of the paper is to compare differential leucocyte count pre and post exercise in healthy males. Materials & methods: The study was conducted on 40 samples i.e. 20 healthy male subjects, in the age group of 19-32 from Karachi, Pakistan. They were divided into two groups that is Standard Group (control) and Experimental Group (test). 2ml blood is collected from each sample and is transferred to tube having EDTA anti-coagulant. Blood parameters are measured using Hematology analyzer. Result: Total leucocyte count increases after exercise and the p values were found to be significant. Stress associated neutrophil count was increased after exercise along with the non-allergic eosinophil count. Conclusion: Total leucocyte count increases after exercise thereby increasing the overall immunity of the body naturally.
