Effect of Salinity Stress on Yield and Yield Components in Rapeseed Cultivars
Journal Title: International Research Journal of Applied and Basic Sciences - Year 2015, Vol 9, Issue 9
Abstract
This study was conducted to evaluation of salinity stress on yield and yield components of rapeseed cultivars. A field experiment was performed in randomized complete block design with three replications and 14 varieties of rapeseed in normal environment and salinity stress environment. At the end of experiment, some traits were evaluated such as number of pods per plant, pod length, pod weight, kernel number per pod, 100 kernel weight and kernel yield. According to analysis of variance, genotypes showed significant responses. Opera had resistance to salinity more than other genotypes. Sarigol was sensitive to salinity more than other genotypes. Based selection indices, TOL and SSI, Zarfam and 4815 cultivars were the more tolerant between cultivars. According to MP, Harm, GMP and STI Modena and opera variety were more suitable in compare to other cultivars also Opera and Sarigol showed highest and lowest kernel yield in both normal (0.68 and 0.27 kg/m2) and stress (0.56 and o.26 kg/m2) condition respectively.
