Effect of spent coffee grounds additions on the mechanical properties of the epoxy composites
Journal Title: Annals of WULS, Forestry and Wood Technology; Zeszyty naukowe SGGW - Year 2017, Vol 97, Issue
Abstract
Effect of spent coffee grounds additions on the mechanical properties of the epoxy composites. A commercial epoxy system was doped with spent coffee grounds (SCG) as filler. The effect of SCG on the mechanical properties of the compositions were examined. It was found that non-extracted SCG decreased MOR by 5 to 18% and increased modulus of elasticity from 6296 MPa for the neat epoxy to 18000 MPa for 2.5%-SCG doped system. The additions of defatted SCG after extraction resulted in dramatic loss in the mechanical behavior of the composites.
