Effect the pulsating magnetics fields on lines MCF-7 Tumor Cells and K-562
Journal Title: Revista Cuarzo - Year 2014, Vol 20, Issue 1
Abstract
Numerous studies suggest that magnetic fields induce apop¬tosis in various tumor cell lines, apparently without affecting healthy cells. However, the conclusions are heterogeneous due to the differences in the characteristics of magnetic fields used. Our study was conducted to determine the effect of pulsed magnetic fields on the morphology, cell count and via¬bility in tumor cell lines MCF-7 and K-562. Cells were expo¬sed to positive pulsed field of 6 mT and 60 Hz, for periods of one or three hours. The effect was compared with that produ¬ced by doxorubicin 0.075 μM to 10 μM. This article presents the main results of the study are presented.
