EFFECTIVENESS OF USING CASES IN PROFESSIONALLY ORIENTED FOREIGN LANGUAGE TEACHING

Abstract
The aim of the article is to show efficiency of using case studies at the lessons of professionally oriented foreign language lessons, to determine how the use of case studies can help the students of the 2nd course of the faculty of Economics and administrative sciences to improve their grammar, speaking, vocabulary and reading comprehension respectively, to show that teaching professionally oriented foreign language through using case studies is important for students’ future professional sphere. The research depends on both qualitative and quantitative research that means the results can be considered as a scientific data. The data is collected at the faculty of “Economics and administrative sciences” of Suleyman Demirel University, at the “Professionally oriented foreign language” lessons of the second course students. The study was conducted through comparing two groups with the same level of English. There are results of pre and post tests of two groups. In this investigation we can observe the level of interest of the students towards Professional English. We tried to link additional cases with the current curriculum. We did not inform any of the students about the experiment not to effect the natural flow of the education in positive or negative way to be able to get as reliable and actual results as possible at the end of the process of experiment. Consequently, the students’ results of final exams of the autumn semester were checked and compared to find out the progress of the students of experimental and control groups.
