ПРАВОВОЕ РЕГУЛИРОВАНИЕ И ГОСУДАРСТВЕННАЯ ПОЛИТИКА В СФЕРЕ РЕЛИГИИ В ГРУЗИИ

Abstract
Historically, Georgia was established as a multinational and multi-confessional state. Under such circumstances, the state’s religious policy is of particular importance in its internal political activities. In a common civilization mosaic, it is committed to ensuring the functioning and sustainability of the Georgian society as a single organism and its unity in maintaining a common national and religious identity. Understanding and performing this difficult task, which is shaped by the multicultural and multinational development of the country, is a subject of scientific-academic and practical interest. As a result of the normalization of socio-economic and political system of Georgia and the normalization of state confessional relations, all religious unions received equal relations which enabled them to have an active impact on the socio-political, socio-economic, cultural, and religious spheres of society in the public, thus, empowering the social function of religion and its institutions. The growing role of religion in the society increases confessional factor in the socio-political life of a country, including state governance politics. Understanding the importance of a confessional factor in a state requires understanding of how the religion operates on a public-political life of a state and how the state impacts on religious situation in a country. It is important to explain how the state and society create background for a new sense of confessional factor in socio-political life, which has always been associated with collective consciousness and thus cannot be excluded from the historical context. On the other hand, as religion is a collective phenomenon and has different dimensions (historical heritage as well as modern state of society) it has to be determined which dimension affects in a concrete moment or which aspect is leading in formation of new religious situation.
