Effects of transgression in DH line populations of winter oilseed rape (Brassica napus L.) obtained from F1 hybrids of the reciprocal cross cv. Californium and DH W-15

Journal Title: Rośliny Oleiste - Oilseed Crops - Year 2009, Vol 30, Issue 2

Abstract

This study was conducted to select transgressive lines from DH line populations on the basis of the results obtained from unreplicated trial with regularly distributed standards (two parental forms). Two populations of doubled haploid lines of winter oilseed rape were obtained from F1 hybrids representung the reciprocal crosses between cv. Californium and DH W-15. Doubled haploids were studied with regard to the number of branches per plant, number of siliques per plant, number of seeds per silique, content of unsaturated 18 C acids and glucosinolates. 26 DH lines exhibited positive transgression effects, which is 12.4% out of 210 studied DH lines. Additionally, characteristics of analyzed DH populations, parental populations and their distribution for homogeneous groups with regard to the studied traits were presented. The canonical variety analysis was performed to create a graphic image of the arrangement of populations with regard to yield components jointly and also with regard to the content of three fatty acids jointly.
