Abstract

Romanenko T.B. Environmental and economic efficiency of organic and traditional land use. Methodological approaches to the assessment of environmental and economic effectiveness of management in organic and traditional farmsteads were substantiated in the article. Approaches to the assessment of the economic and environmental efficiency of organic and traditional agricultural land use were also described. In the first case, calculation is proposed to be carried out using such indicators as the cost of products, expenses for treir cultivation, rate of costeffectiveness and yield or profitability of cultivation or production of organic or conventional crops. In the second case, following indicators are proposed: optimal land area, optimal areas of high-quality land, optimal structure of land, optimal structure of sowing and the indicator of optimal tillage. Level of tillage and development of conventional and organic land usages were determined. Components of ecological efficiency of land use were analysed. The following indicators were proposed to be used in a calculation of environmental efficiency: the level of land degradation, the degree of environmental sustainability and the level of anthropogenic pressure. Environmental efficiency was analysed by for the current level of degradation of agricultural land usages in the Kiev region and in Ukraine in general. The features of the formation of economic efficiency were determined. The economic efficiency of organic and traditional farmsteads in Ukraine and Kiev region was estimated. The results of the research on ecological efficiency of land usage in Kiev region reveal the need for urgent implementation of anti-degradation measures of soil conservation and improvemen, including preventive measures. The evaluation of economic efficiency of land usage on organic and traditional farmsteads reveal the retardation of organic farmsteads behind traditional ones in Kiev region. In general, low competitiveness and low level of development of organic farms were found in Kiev region and whole Ukraine. Keywords: land usage, environmental efficiency, economic efficiency, the efficiency of land usage, cost-effectiveness.
