Electric Field Simulation Around Contaminated SIR Insulators Using MATLAB
Journal Title: Engineering, Technology & Applied Science Research - Year 2018, Vol 8, Issue 1
Abstract
High voltage insulators are mainly used to support transmission lines. This paper focuses on simulating the electric field along the surface of contaminated Silicone Rubber (SIR) insulators. The electric field (EF) distribution is important to determine the EF stress occurring on the insulator surface. So, the EF distribution is analyzed using a FEM tool in MATLAB under various conditions. Two types of insulators, straight and alternate sheds, were considered. Results showed that higher EF stresses occurs on the trunk portions of both straight shed and alternate shed types. Also, the results showed higher EF magnitude on the straight shed compared to the alternate shed, under both clean and contamination conditions.

Phi Shape UWB Antenna with Band Notch Characteristics
In this paper a novel band notch antenna in UWB frequency range is designed using split rings. Split rings are overlapped with designed monopole to give phi shape. The slit gap gives band-notch operation from 5.1GHz to 6...
Security Analysis of Zipper Hash Against Multicollisions Attacks
In this paper, the existence of multicollisions in Zipper Hash structure, a new Hash structure which was introduced to strengthen the iterated Hash structures, is presented. This study shows that finding multicollisions...
Performance of Geosynthetic-Reinforced Soils Under Static and Cyclic Loading
This paper investigates and discusses the composite behavior of geosynthetic reinforced soil mass. It presents the results of a series of large-scale laboratory tests supported by analytical methods to examine the perfor...
Enhancing the HVRT and LVRT Capabilities of DFIG-based Wind Turbine in an Islanded Microgrid
Doubly fed induction generator (DFIG) based wind turbines are very sensitive to grid voltage variations. Therefore, low-voltage-ride-through (LVRT) and high-voltage-ride-through (HVRT) capabilities are employed to improv...
The Effectiveness of High Quality Supplementary Cementitious Materials for Mitigating ASR Expansion in Concrete with High Alkali Content
Alkali silica reaction (ASR) is influenced by external factors such as the surrounding environment of high alkalinity. Countries with cold climate have a high probability to be exposed to high concentrations of NaCl solu...
